Making room for the street children of
Latin America at Christmas.
The Toybox Posada Festival is a chance for you and your church, school or group to do something different together this Christmas, celebrate the birth of Jesus in a very special way, and reach out to street children in Latin America.
Posada is a Spanish word meaning “Inn” or shelter where people give a home to the nativity figures of Mary and Joseph. Each night throughout Advent ‘Mary and Joseph’ travel from home to home where they are looked after and given shelter. The festival symbolises making room for Jesus in our lives, homes and communities.
In a similar way, with your help, Toybox makes room for street children by taking them in, giving them shelter, and providing opportunities for them to escape the streets so that they can live the life God wants for them.
Jesus said “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3: v 20)
When we make room for the needy and open the door to the outcast; it is actually Jesus who we let in – Jesus who sits and dines with us.
By holding a Posada festival you can invite the street children of Latin America in, and celebrate the birth of Jesus – who invites us into a new relationship with God.
