Jocelyn used to work four hours a day helping her mother sell corn on the
street. Even though her family depends on the little money she can get, now
she only works for two days a week. On her ‘days off’ she goes to a Toybox
street scheme with 45 other children aged seven to eighteen.
Jocelyn says, “When I came to the project, they greeted me with hugs.
Here they make you feel important and loved. That called my attention, because
that doesn’t happen at home. At the school I feel I am along with family. They
help us with our homework, we can take showers, they give us nutritious meals,
they take us to the doctor and they teach us about the Word of God. We even
get to rehearse dances and the educators love us very much”.
You can be a part of something really special for children like Jocelyn and Daniel by committing to a regular monthly gift. Thank you so much for your love, gifts and prayers for these precious children. Please don't miss this opportunity to shine a light into the dark lives of street-working children.
Daniel worked on the streets, hoping to earn some money to provide for himself and his family. He began shining the shoes of passersby, but soon discovered that it was not enough money to live on. Having lost contact with his parents, with no security and hardly any money, he had little hope for the future. However, things began to change as Daniel started attending a Toybox project two days a week. He said “I like to attend the centre because they treat us well, we play, and we learn a lot from life.” He was recently registered on a course to study auto-mechanics, so his dreams of becoming a mechanic can now become reality. Your gift can help other street children like Daniel with a step up to a bright future.
